Songwriting Journal Entry 01 Better Than A Dream It wasn’t fully planned out or premeditated — more a vibe, a spirit capturing the way my wife moves: her natural beauty, the flow of life, her being as a woman, as a dancer, as a mother, and our travels meeting in Los Angeles. The chorus isn’t specifically about us. It’s lyrics that have come to me over the years — about pleasure and pain, and the glory of relationships: how they endure through the greatest pleasures and pains, and how that endurance is what makes them so meaningful and beautiful. It does tie into our story, but it’s less about one person carrying it all and more about how each person takes on the pleasure and the pain together. Ultimately, life — with all its beauty, pleasure, glory, trial, and sorrow — is so much better than a dream. Those of us committed to love, joy, breakthrough, and sanctity know that, and we’d do anything for it — which is also what’s implied in the lyrics.
